Support Out of School Time Programs in Rhode Island

The Building Opportunity through Out of School Time (BOOST) Act  HB 8047 would provide four million dollars ($4,000,000) to support comprehensive and effective afterschool, school vacation, summer learning and workforce development programs for students in grades kindergarten through twelve (K-12).

Now is precisely the time to make this bold investment in out-of-school learning (OSTL) that will immediately benefit our state’s students, families, and economy. Students in afterschool and summer programs discover who they are and what they love to do, make smart choices, and avoid risky behaviors. However for every student in Rhode Island attending an afterschool program, 3 students are waiting for an available program. Funding made possible by the BOOST Act would help ensure thousands of more students have access to a quality out of school time program.
