Tell Congress: We Can't Afford Cuts to Afterschool!

On April 30 the House Labor, Health and Human Services, Education (LHHS) Appropriations and Related Agencies Subcommittee marked up their FY2020 spending measure, providing a $100 million increase for federal afterschool support. The increased funding would mean 100,000 additional students could access local, quality afterschool and summer learning programs.

The move by the House rejects the administration's proposed elimination of the 21st Century Community Learning Centers initiative which would have closed 10,000+ afterschool programs and hurt families and children in every part of the country.

You can make a difference: call on the full House and the Senate to enact the $100 million increase and protect funding for afterschool and summer learning programs.
