Support Out of School Time Programs in Pennsylvania
This summer, Representative Michael Schlossberg (D-Lehigh) introduced HB 2429, the Building Opportunity through Out of School Time (BOOST) Act, legislation in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives that would dedicate $50 million every year to fund afterschool and summer learning programs throughout Pennsylvania. Out of school time programs in Pennsylvania keep young people safe, inspire learning, and give working parents peace of mind. Students discover who they are and what they love to do, make smart choices, and avoid risky behaviors. However for every student in Pennsylvania attending an afterschool program, 4 students are waiting for an available program. Funding made possible by the BOOST Act would help ensure thousands of more students have access to a quality out of school time program.
